Iria Heredia graduated from the University of Geneva with a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and Environment. Her undergraduate research focused on gender perspectives in development projects such as microcredit initiatives. She is currently in the MA program with the Department of Geography, Environment and Geomatics at the University of Ottawa. She is interested in Indigenous perspectives of environmental change in Canada’s North. Working under the supervision of Dr. Sonia Wesche, her research focuses on the role of traditional and local knowledge for understanding social and ecological change in fishing livelihoods in the Mackenzie Delta.
